When the word balloons in comics point to the wrong character. You can usually tell because all of a sudden Hellboy is talking in the third person about how he’s gonna destroy himself. I mean, c’mon, editors! Do your jobs, I paid four bucks for this shit.
Not getting my order right at food places. If I asked for onions, it means no onions. Not a few onions, not one onion, not ‘a handful that you try slide off and miss’ onions. I think we’ve come far enough as a society to get someones god damned order right 100% of the time.
People who hem and haw when you are trying to hang out. I tend to take control in a lot of situations, because nowadays, it seems most people are in capable of making simple decisions like where to eat, what to do or when to meet up. Everything you do doesn’t have to be the ‘correct’ choice, just make a decision already.
The internet. All of it. As much as I love it, I resent how dependent I’ve become of it, and wish I wasn’t as plugged in as I am/
Three things that cross your mind of late
1. How hard it’s going to be to get back on a normal schedule when I return from my current trip, which is 17 hrs ahead of the US. I have only 2 days until I have classes when I get back and I’m worried I’m going to fall asleep in the middle of a critique.
2. I’m getting closer to 30 every day (I just turned 28) and for some reason this worries me. I’m afraid I’ll have to start acting like an adult and I am not ready to do that at all.
3. I’ve been balancing enough stuff for three people in my life and I think it’s stressful, then I think about how good my life is and I feel like an asshole for thinking my life has stress. I know I’m not starving or a refuge or in a war-torn country, but I get anxiety attacks all the time anyways. Does this make me a jerk? Probably, I think.
The Guardian UK iPhone app. The Guardian has amazing news coverage, insightful editorials and up to the minute soccer news. There’s literally nothing I don’t enjoy reading and with the app, I can read it anywhere. I probably spend at least two hours a day using it!
Are you a rebel or do you like going with the flow? Why?
I’m pretty rebellious, haha. I’ve never fallen in with trends or whatnot, and personality wise I’m a pretty weird guy that tends to do lots of illegal things without giving a fuck what people think about me. I’ve also had very ecIectic and unique tastes my whole life when it comes to movies, music and hobbies. People generally make fun of the things I’m in to or how I dress, until a few years later when they love them. I also have very little patience for doing things the way I’m supposed to which has ended badly more often than not, and I always leap before I look. One look at my friends or my social calendar is definitely a shock to most people considering how much of a nerd I look like, so I definitely rebel against the ultimate stereotype, which is the one that dictates you must act like you look like.
What band(s) or musician(s) have you seen in concert more than once?
This is a short list I pulled off my current iTunes library, the actual list is probably 2 or 3 times longer than this. I put on a lot of punk and indy shows in college and have been going to shows religiously since I was a teenager. Up the punks!

Last TV show you watched from start to finish and why
Entourage. I’m currently re-watching the entire series with my girlfriend from the beginning, so I watch this show almost every night. The quality went down a bit towards the later seasons (we are on season 6 right now) but I still love every minute of it!
Describe in detail where you are typing right now.
I’m in a coffee shop in Soma. The music is way too loud and I’m surrounding by two classmates laptops, in addition to my own. The coffee I’m drinking is too bitter and I keep running my tongue along my gums in a vain attempt to get the taste out of my mouth. Every time I successfully get the flavor out of my gums, I take another sip and repeat the process.
Set your iPod-like device to shuffle. What song played first and where did it take you?
"Seven More Shitty-Ass Songs (live in fucking belgium" by Charles Bronson
This song reminds me of the time I jumped in a car with 3 of my good friends in 2004 on my birthday and drove to Toronto to see Das Oath. They were playing with The Locust, but we left before they played. Das Oath was insane and the singer may have broken someones nose with the mic stand, but I’m not sure. Drove back home 6 hours that same night.
I used to go with the Winston Wolf, lots of cream, lots of sugar, but lately I’ve just been going with completely black. I found I could never make my coffee taste the same twice with cream and sugar, so I decided to just get them out of the equation entirely. This is a recent development, with in the last two months, so we’ll see if it lasts.
Three things that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
Three things that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
1. I’m moving in with my girlfriend soon and its the only serious relationship I’ve had in almost a decade, so that makes me feel good.
2. My cats, they are pretty cool and depend on me for everything. One of them gives me a lot of attitude though, cause I threw out her favorite chair two weeks ago, but I think she’ll get over it soon.
3. The ending of Field of Dreams. Every boy raised in America knows why.
Russia - I’ve always wanted to visit here, especially St Petersburg, but just never made the trip. Russian culture is always depicted as some sort of mash up of high tech and old world set in a frozen noir landscape, and that just seems awesome to me.
Brazil - World Cup 2014. Enough said.
Austrailia - Lots of friends all over this continent, my dream is to rent a convertible and drive from Sydney to Perth through the outback over the course of a week or two.
Iceland - Every friend I’ve had that visits here says it is unbelievable. Almost went a couple years ago during a trip to Barcelona but couldn’t line the dates up to go for a weekend. It remains on my to-do list.
London - I’m cheating because I’ve been here many times and lived here for a spell. However, as long as I have so many people that close to me here, and as long there are so many awesome skateparks and soccer matches to see, I’ll always have it on my short list of places to visit.
